how are the soles walking on snow and ice? I cannot slip and fall!! my other winter boots soles are not good for ice

These boots have a deeply-treaded sole, which is excellent for traction and to reduce slippage.

Are the insoles removable?

Are these boots comfortable without socks?

We do have many customers that wear our wool lined boots without socks. That would be a personal preference.

Are these boots waterproof?

Do they have a Metal shank? I need to go through a metal detector at an airport severe times a day

The Ilka does not have a steel shank.

For the very bottom of the boot, do you use rubber soles? (Or, are they polyurethane?)

The sole is made of thermoplastic rubber (TPR).

How big is the toe box? Any issues for those of us with a bunion?

This is a medium width boot along the footbed. We do offer free returns if the boots don't meet your needs.

Are these boots stuck at 13" circumference, or does that expand with the lacing? I have 15" calves and am curious if I can wear them. Thank you!

The description says 13" shaft, 16" circumference - 13 is the height - circumference means around the calf. Circumference is the length of a circle.

Bring on the snow!

I was in Breckenridge and saw these boots in the window. I went in to check out the boots and thought they were just what I needed to boost my winter wardrobe. I didn't buy them on the spot as I was traveling and had to contemplate the price for a few days. The folks in the Breckenridge store were super friendly and nice.... If I had stayed in the store a little longer, I would've needed to buy an extra suitcase! When I got home to Michigan, I went online and bought the boots. They arrived very quickly and are beautiful . I did have to exchange the size, but it was easy and fast. For reference, I wear a size 8 and needed a 39 in these boots. I got the blue and black boot. It fits my skinny legs and the heel height is perfect for running around in cold snowy Michigan. The side zip makes for easy on and off. Thank you for the wonderful boots!

In love with these boots

These are the best boots I've ever purchased. They are sized correctly. The colors are exactly like the photo. Haven't worn them out, but I posted this photo on Facebook and got a lot of compliments. Honestly, I normally wouldn't spend this much on boots, but I had to have them. They are unique and I don't expect to see many others wearing them.
