Just Enough Of A Good Thing
I bought this jacket to replace one misplaced... 15 years ago. Just thought it was time to reward myself with a top-quality, while practical, classic leather jacket. One I could feel comfortable in while kicking about or at a the nicest eatery.
I was immediately impressed with the softness and shades of the leather, double stiching and the interior snap (versus button and loop) pockets. The cell phone inner pocket is snug, which I find is a good thing keeping the phone secure.
Shortcoming are few, and not quality related, but for my purposes (and perhaps yours) worthy of note. I purchased a 44 regular. I'm 5'10 with a 33" arm and 36" waist. I found the sleeves 1/2-1" too long, settling right at the base of my thumb and forefinger. Inasmuch as Overland does not provide alterations, I'm left to find a quality tailor who works with leather. I also would have appreciated additional adjustability in the adjustable cuff tab. It might well have solved the length issue. As it stands the arm opening is not tapered at 6 1/4 ", with the only a single adjustment snap reducing that width to 6". Not a significant enough range in my opinion. The jacket is also just a three season option (as claimed). Last evening I wore it in 23 degree temperatures. I was warm enough up front, but the air quickly chilled my back.
Finally, a nicely made garment bag and quality oversized wooden hanger are provided with the order: A nice touch.
Overall a very impressive product for its price, the craftsmanship and its US origin, but to truely make it my own additional expense will be necessary. Therein the reason for my one star takeaway.
