Without the shearling.......
Just gotta be the most beautiful leather garment I have ever owned - and I've owned a few... So why the 4 stars? The shearling collar piece on the removable leather bib...
As Dame Maggie Smith once said, "It's too much, it's just too much!" Too poser, too much pretense (personal opinion, of course). Solution (brace yourself for the treachery)? Take a set of hair clippers and shear the fir down as close to the soft under-leather as you can. Then use an electric shaver for yet a closer trim. This will leave dark, thin patches of fir that will give the collar a much more interesting texture - alternating between black and brown - which will wonderfully pull the brown and black colors of the vest together. The lamb skin will be somewhat dry under the fir, so take a sponge and apply a generous amount of high quality leather conditioner to the sheared area - maybe a few application would be in order. When dry, lingering shadows of dark fir left on the section will then be highlighted by the lighter brown color of the leather - giving the whole vest a much more masculine look - worthy of the ruggedness of the goat hide. Then, accessorize with a Filson wool or flannel shirt; Frye redwood-colored harness boots; the requisite Levi's that fit, as Tennessee Williams once said, "Just a bit tighter than necessary..."; and top it all off with a Tilly hat - all of which will compliment the ruggedness of the goat skin.
Ooooo, lookin' mighty fine there, guy, mighty fine.....!
