This vest was more than double the price of any leather jacket I would buy, and I am not a spendthrift or made of money. However, when I put it on at Overland in Santa Fe, it just fit so perfectly and felt high quality, and I knew I would regret it if I passed. It was $200 more than the calfskin vests which were also beautiful, but I really love the rugged brushed outer surface which seems like a durable suede, with nuances in color and texture. I justified the purchase by saying that it would be a vest that I bought for a lifetime. With the wool lining and merino neck area, it kept me warm in snowy weather with just a thin long sleeved shirt underneath. I do believe that it will last me for decades and will wear well and get even better over time. It will take me on many trips around the globe, and I will remember the day I first put it on in Santa Fe. Although it is a lot of money for a vest, you will have no regrets or second thoughts as you use it for many years to come.
