Outstanding Jacket
After reading the initial 3 star review that found the jacket to be tight in the chest and the sleeves exceptionally long, I hesitated to purchase the jacket. Obviously that changed after further consideration. Here's part of the backstory, I'm 5'8" with a slightly larger then average chest and shoulders, average arm length (around 30 inches) and no belly. Also, I've been living outside the U.S. for the majority of the past 40 yrs., from Asia, EuroAsia to Western Europe. I'm very familiar with quality tailoring in various other cultures including Turkey. This jacket is made in Turkey. Turkish tailors and seamstresses create outstanding quality clothing and this jacket is a high quality jacket. Turkish clothing tends to run slightly smaller then U.S. equivalent sizing, in the case of the 3 star review, it appeared that might to be the cased with this jacket. Based on that review I eventually purchased a 44 and 46 vice a normal 42 (using U.S. sizes). Both were to large but the 44 could have worked, if need be. I returned both and exchanged the 44 for a 42. The size 42 fits perfectly...across the back, chest, length and sleeves. As for the 3 star review, I would suggest that it is a bit misleading. Finally, this is an outstanding Fall, Winter and Early Spring jacket that runs very true to U.S. sizes and, I suspect, Overland provided specific guidance on U.S. sizing. I own a beautiful calf length, Scandinavian fox fur trimmed hood shearling coat purchased in Europe (approx. a 3000.00 Euro coat). The shearling depth on this jacket is very close to that coat. The tailoring of this jacket is also outstanding throughout. I highly recommend this jacket.
