My favorite Overland coat!
I've tried a few of Overland's coats, and this one is my favorite. I love merino sheepskin, and the quality craftsmanship of Overland, but I personally find many of their styles to be a bit too flashy and exuberant for me to wear all the time here in Vermont where I live. This coat is a wonderful solution to this, because it is more discreet than most of the others, but still looks better than most other jackets out there, in a quiet, mature, and less exuberant way. The craftsmanship is the typical top-notch you get from Overland as well, and the deep black suede and rich, dark chocolate-colored fur looks even better in reality than it does in the model photos.
Here's my favorite things about this coat summarized:
1) The cut of sheepskin used is extra soft and luxurious; the suede and fur is definitely softer than the tougher B3 bomber jackets, for example.
2) The hood. Even when you rest your hands in the pockets of the jacket, the hood does not get pulled down around your head and instead stays comfortably light. You can adjust the tightness with the drawstrings.
3) The versatility. Detaching the zippered hood totally changes the aesthetic of the jacket, basically giving you a 2-in-1 deal. The option to choose between zipping the jacket up and buttoning it is also a nice touch. I personally don't use the buttons, but the option is there.
