I don't have a whole lot of experience with a jacket in this price range but when it arrived I was very pleased. I had tried on a shearling lined coat from a manufacturer in New York called Schott. It was very stiff and heavy, the shearling wasn't soft and the cut was terrible. The Piers is medium weight the shearling feels like mink and the cut and fit are amazing. The exterior surface of the leather is beautiful too. Not the typical rough suede like surface on most shearling coats, just an amazing matte finish leather. I really love that it seems to be a finished hide inside and out and not two layers fused together. The natural edge at the sleeves and waist are very nice too. My guess was this jacket was to simple and clean for Overland's target market. That's the only explanation for it being half price. Most of the other coats on the site have more detailing and are more rugged by design. I feel like I got lucky discovering this coat.
