Jack Frost Leather Coat with Spanish Merino Shearling Lining - Tall (40L - 46L)

I highly doubt that I am the favorite. But Dad needed a new coat. He is in his 80s and as is true with many in that age group they tend to get cold more readily. He is (was) tall and always had a long body and long arms. I was thrilled to be able to order this in a 42 Long. He commented right away about the length and corresponding sleeve length. He loved the softness of the lambskin and the warmth of the shearling inner lining. He very much enjoys being outside no matter what the temperature. He has acres of farm ground that he helps to maintain. The next day he called to thank me and said that this coat was much nicer looking then the previous one he wore. While it has not been cold enough for wearing the coat just yet in Ohio, that time will come quickly enough. Thank you for helping me to keep Dad warm and making him smile.

The headline here asked what I buy this again. I have to think that this would be the last coat I ever buy. The quality is above my expectations. I had looked at this coat for over a year. It was a little hard for me to bring myself to spend that amount of money on just one coat. But after trying it on I realized the fits in the comfort was exactly what I was looking for.

My wife bought this coat for me two years ago. Her first attempt she bought one undersized. She then exchanged it for one quite a bit larger than I need, but I really like the extra space. Except it being heavy, it's so soft I barely feel it, and I could layer a fleece for 100 below. She bought the LONG, which is great, as I have a longer than normal 41 inch trunk. My arms, however, are normal length, so the "L" sleeves are several inches too long. The cuff snaps are pointless at cinching in the sleeves. One snap is full diameter and simply keeps the strap from dangling. The other snap is so close (1.5") that it has no effect because the lining and leather flex more than that without any effort. I asked them to add a third snap 2" further around than the 2nd snap, thus 3.5 inches total reduction (1 inch diameter reduction), which will hold the sleeves above my wrists and solve the problem. They can also shorten the sleeves, but I hate to wear thick gloves when hiking. Instead, I can wear light wool and if I get cold, unsnap and pull my hands up into the sleeves. You can't hike with hands in pockets, hands in sleeves is a trick that has been around since the Dead Sea was sick.

I'm from Amsterdam the Netherlands and i had a winter jacket. Being in Chicago in january, the climate is much colder than my thinner leather jacket could protect me. In Chicago i visited the shop a few times to fit and consider the buy of the jacket as it is not cheap. Staff at overland were very friendly and consideratie to help me. In the end i bought the jacket. Outside it was so much warmer and more comfortable than i anticipated upon. A great buy for many years to come !

I have been searching for a quality winter coat for many years that has style, is functional, durable, and will keeps me warm. This is an exceptional winter coat that is extremely well made, very warm, and is without a doubt the best coat I have ever owned. Given my height (6'5"), it has always been difficult to find one that fits correctly. I visit the Manchester, VT store frequently. However, while in Denver, CO I purchased a 44L and it fits perfectly. The quality of the material used and workmanship is phenomenal. It was well worth the investment - you will never need to purchase another. Fantastic selection and quality at Overland!
