A true modern fit
Fit -- I am 5'9'', 180 lbs. I typically wear size 40 or medium. Similar to one of the review comments, in comparison to the Hayes, the Daniel indeed has a slimmer fit, which I prefer. I had wished Hayes was more like this (fitted with a "gentle hug" feel, but not too tight), but I ended up purchasing Hayes in 38R (which, btw, makes me look like a man, if you get my drift). Note that because of the slimmer fit, you have limited amount of room to layer. I was able to fit a thinner wool blazer or a sweater, but no more. The 40R sleeves are just a tab longer than I would have liked on me as I typically wear 33" sleeve shirts, but on a normal dude, the sleeves should be just fine for cold weather.
Style - A small ding comment on the removable zipper liner -- It creates the illusion of a layered jacket/vest, which can be quite stylish. However, I don't believe it would with stand the test of time (style wise). I personally removes the zipper liner and layer a vest myself, which creates more variety in fabric, texture, and/or color. Nevertheless, as with the Hayes, I get compliments from both men and women when I wore the Daniel.
Function -- I wore the Daniel in 15-25 degree (F) weather in Nashville, with minimum layering, and I could hardly feel the cold. I started to get too warm with a hat and scarf after a short walk. This coat will perform well even at a lower temperature, and keep you look good.
