Great jacket; be careful on sizing
This is my second Overland jacket/coat. I bought the McKinley coat at the store in Santa Fe, and it has been a wonderful coat through last winter. However, I have wanted a B-3 bomber jacket for a long time, and after sorting through the various models/options on the Overland site, picked this one.
I was concerned about sizing, so used the online chat feature to discuss sizes. I gave the person on the chat my chest, waist, and sleeve measurements, and told her that I was debating between the M and L sizes. She suggested either a small or extra- small, which was not helpful. (My chest is 42" and waist 35").
In any event, based on the advice, I ordered the smaller of the two, a medium. It came very quickly, but it was, as feared, too small. Although I could zip it, I could not take a deep breath or raise my arms. So, on the phone to Overland, with a very helpful person who arranged to ship me a replacement in size L, and to do a return. I received the replacement in one day, and have been issued a credit for the original jacket.
The jacket itself is terrific--well made, soft, warm, and frankly, luxurious. I wish the pockets were shearling lined like the McKinley, but that is a quibble. The L generally fits well, although the sleeves are long; I may have to roll them up a bit if I am not wearing gloves.
So, five stars for the jacket, 2 stars for the sizing "help." Overall, great service on the return, and a great final product. Overland is a good company with high quality products. If you can make it to a retail store, that is the best way to see and try on the various items, and the staff in Santa Fe have always been very helpful.
