As beautiful as it is soft.
I own two Overland coats and three vests and a blazer. The August Suede Leather Vest is second only to my William Suede Leather Vest.
What I love about this vest is how the matte black suede meets up with the supremely soft and luxurious shearling lining. On a cold day, this will keep me warm indoors, even if I am in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. If I go outside and it's windy, the upturned collar perfectly hugs my neck. The snap buttons, with their smooth matte texture perfectly complement the suede style, and the inner pocket lets me tuck away my large phone without creating a bulky appearance.
That said, there are some missed styling opportunities with this vest. First, I find the glossy gunmetal zippers to throw off bothersome reflections, if I have light overhead. They introduce a gaudy factor to an otherwise near perfect matchup between the black suede and gray shearling lining. I'm thinking about taking 400-600 grit to take down the gloss to a more matte. Secondly, the leather around the pockets visually clashes. It may have been done to make the eventual wear from the zippers less obvious, but the style penalty is great and could have been minimized. It jars the eyes when seeing the beautiful velvety suede interrupted, like a scar, by the shiny leather. Together the leather and zipper give a whimsical look to an otherwise serious work of art.
