Another Overland Winner!
11/12/2019
I recently drove to the Ft. Worth, Tx. store from Houston to try on the Julia Spanish Merino Shearling coat with removable, fur-trimmed hood.
I have a Shearling made in Argentina that's 12yrs. old &, well, fits just a little tight in the chest & shoulders to be comfortable. It's still fabulous, so I'll save it for my granddaughter.
I'm a size 6 in most things & frankly, I could have worn the S in this coat. But, again, the shoulders were a bit snug. For reference, I'm 34B, 28 1/2, 37.
This coat in a M allows me to wear a warm vest & a heavy sweater comfortably. It tapers in at the waist & has an elegant, slimming look. The sleeves are a little long, but rolling back the sleeves shows off the beautiful grey fur, which contrasts wonderfully against the deep black Shearling nap.
Now, I'm 5' 4", so, unfortunately the length doesn't fit me mid thigh like the model. It comes to the top of my knees, and elongates my legs. True!
The collar can be worn down on less windy occasions or, right now in 25mph winds with 31 degrees in Houston, collar up. I do have to wear a grey mink scarf that I bought in Argentina years ago, because, even with the collar up, there is a gap around the collar which let's alot of wind through.
The fox lined hood zips off easily & the fox is full & luscious. It has ties, but, it still fits large & let's wind & cold in around the throat area. I would wear my grey or black mink scarf for added warmth. The hood is always an added protection in the cold & snow.
I've lived in Alberta, Canada where the wind chills go down to -55 and Shanghai, China in 28d temps with wet snow, as well as Buenos Aires, Argentina in the windy winter. This GORGEOUS, warm Shearling can handle any of those temps, while doing it elegantly. It can handle a formal event as easily as a date night in suede leggings & a cashmere sweater.
I am SO thrilled with this BEAUTIFUL coat! You won't regret buying it!
BTW, I also have the Bettina mink poncho in grey & brown & the Amy.
