Gabriel Sheepskin Jacket

It's beautiful and very well made.

I'm 5'9", 170lbs and the size 40 fits me perfectly. Now, if I let my body go and re-grow my beer belly I can see how that might be a bit tight down low if I were attempting to button the jacket, but as long as I keep on top of my waist girth this size 40 will continue to be perfect for me, and the jacket looks great unbuttoned considering this is a jean jacket style. Cuff length was also perfect for my slightly-longer arms, breaking at the center back of my hand with arms down. Jacket doesn't feel bulky at all and looks killer over anything from dress shirts to thermals to simple graphic t-shirts. One very slight difference I noticed in the jacket I received versus the pictures was that mine was not as shiny as the one in the pictures, but slightly more of a matte texture, but this is really just a minor detail. I live on the East Coast and was looking for more of a vintage style that would look great in urban areas, as well as out in the country instead of a Midwest mountain town vibe like most of Overland's other products. Those all look awesome, don't get me wrong, but I don't living in Billings, MT and our temperatures in the winter might get in the lows 30's if we're lucky here in Richmond, VA. Praying for temps to drop as we head into November because this will be my go-to, everyday jacket. I'm not about babying it, BUT the think wooden hanger and garment bag that come with it were awesome to include to make sure it hangs right and doesn't gather dust in the Summer. Overland caught my eye in Breckenridge on a family vacation and again at their Denver store where I got to try on the Gabriel jacket in person before I committed. Would absolutely buy more from Overland.

I'm mad at whoever it was that had the bright idea to send me a catalog. I was only interested in the sheepskin coat. I've been shopping every since.

When I pulled the jacket out of the box, I already knew the jacket was high quality. The leather was so soft and the fur so beautiful. The workmanship is also very good. I have had a few comments how good my jacket looked in the few days i've worn it.

I just received the jacket and it's everything I hoped for. It fits perfectly, is warm and looks great. I'm 5'10 about 175 lbs and I got size 40. Very happy with this purchase.

This jacket is soft and comfortable to wear. I had to get used to how much it blocked the cold. There is no need to layer up when wearing this jacket. Getting to wear this jacket is the best part of winter for me.

This is my second shearling from Overland and I'm delighted with it. The Gabriel is more jacket than coat (shorter cut, tighter fit) and it is falling right into place as the jacket I throw on to walk the dog or run to the market. I like the tighter fit because it works over a tee or button shirt and isn't too roomy. Comparing to my shearling coat (the Corbin), the coat is roomy and is best suited to the coldest winter days when I tend to wear sweaters or heavy shirts with vests. A chunky sweater or layers of shirts won't work well with the Gabriel and I chose it partly for that reason. It's worth stressing - this jacket, the Gabriel, is toasty warm. I took the dog out for an hour + the other morning at 18 degrees, wore the jacket over a medium shirt and was very comfortable. It's shearling, though, and it's got range so as the day warmed up to high 30s, this was not too much coat for conditions. Buttons are tight and stiff. They're not traditional buttons - more like what you'll remember from old jeans but they have started to loosen up and they'll be fine. The leather is substantial, a little more beefy than I guessed from the pic. It's loosening up and taking on my personal profile a little more each day. I'm very happy with it. I normally buy 42 but went with 40 on this one based on another review. 40 is right for me and the way I wear it. I'm 5'9", 175, athletic. My Corbin is 42 and is perfect with traditional winter layers underneath. The Gabriel jacket is almost certainly going to get more use than the coat. I'm good with that.

Super warm and looks great when dressed to impress and with jeans! If I had one complaint it's the cuffs are a little tight, I wish it had two button holes for adjustment when worn with gloves. I love it so much I went back to buy the black version, but alas they are out of stock!

This leaves are way too long had to spend $250 to have the sleeves tailored and the Taylor said because of the way the seam is in the sleeve he couldn't do it like the original so essentially the jacket is basically ruined.

I bought the jacket for a shearling version of a denim trucker jacket. It arrived just before our anniversary ski trip to Beaver Creek. It was perfect! A little lighter and less bulky than my two Overland shearling bomber jackets, but just as warm.
