A hundred years ago, the Old Market of Omaha, Nebraska would have been the ideal place to shop if you were looking for a railroad car full of fruit. This warehouse center on the west bank of the Missouri River was a major link between the East and West. When the railroad era came to a close forty years ago, Sam Mercer had the vision to renovate his family's red brick warehouses and open a new era for the Old Market. Today, art galleries, coffee bars, pubs and shops occupy this historic district.
